Quit making resolutions at New Year

Apparently today, the second Friday in January is also known as ‘Quitters’ Day’ - the day when many people abandon their once well intentioned New Year’s Resolution. What won’t come as a surprise to anyone who has tried and given up on sticking to a resolution started on 1 January - is that January is the worst possible month to start to making changes, to resolve to be a better, healthier, wealthier, whatever, version of you.

January is still mid-winter, nature is pausing and resting, as should we if we live seasonally. Ignore the pressure to restart, rebuild, and run into the new year like an Olympic sprinter. Give yourself this month to reflect, to pause, to look inward, to dream, to consider intentions, and to prepare for the time when it comes that you start putting any plans into action.

Live seasonally and take inspiration from Mother Nature - spring time will bring renewal, lighter, brighter days, feelings of optimism and new beginnings. Spring is the naturally perfect time to focus on starting something new or making changes.

So, for now, be gentle with yourself - go slow, rest, focus on nourishing and caring for yourself, and you’ll be ready for the season to come.
